Awesome results for clinics
More than 130 COVID-19 vaccinations have been administered in ŌCHT communities.
ŌCHT supported another another Māori and Indigenous Health Innovation-led clinic at Jecks Place today (Friday, March 11).
The Mihi team administered another 27 vaccinations.
Since early December, 137 first, second and booster shots have been administered in ŌCHT communities.
Mihi and the ŌCHT team are thrilled with the results – they’re vaccinations that might not otherwise have got to sometimes at-risk groups.
Jecks was among the first communities Mihi visited to test the waters in December.
Since then, the pilot has grown into a fully-fledged campaign that’s visited six communities and helped many more.
The ŌCHT team is always on hand to support Mihi and to support sometimes worried tenants as they continue their vaccination journey.
The communities are always very supportive, too. At Jura Place in the heat of summer, tenant William treated the sweltering team to ice creams.
He also loaned one of the team a sunhat and sunnies to protect them from the sun!
We’ve had great feedback from tenants who’ve used the service.
They’re invariably impressed with Mihi’s sincere and individualised approach, and ŌCHT’s presence and facilitation.
Being able to get vaccinated in their own community was a great help – as was the warmly received koha Mihi offered.
Mihi offers $50 koha to people getting their first and second vaccination, and for vaccinated people who bring others in for the jab.
Food and a drink are also provided.
Mihi also helps people organise their vaccination pass and provides advice on how to prepare for self-isolation.
Being ready includes having enough medication and food for a longish stay at home.
The Mihi mobile clinic programme’s on-the-ground supporters include Waitaha Primary Health, St John and the Canterbury District Health Board.
