Job seeking? Our collab has your back!

A ground-breaking collaboration will help job seeking ŌCHT tenants get work ready.

ŌCHT, Christchurch City Mission and government education and employment service Connected have combined to host a new series of work readiness get togethers.

The Work Ready Mission 2024 programme replaces ŌCHT’s work readiness meetups. The first session is on August 15. The programme runs to September 19.

ŌCHT job coach Lyn says tenants will get even more out of the new-look sessions, which will include many more new faces, employers, trainers, and opportunities.

There will also be giveaways, including personal care products and coffee vouchers.

“I’m really excited to work with the Mission and Connected, and together we’ll explore heaps of topics and possibilities to help people get work ready.

“We’ve got six great sessions planned that’ll cover everything from what work means to you, the skills and strengths we have, dressing to impress and how to overcome the challenges we might face.

“I’ll even have plenty of personal care products for men and woman, which I’ll be giving away, free, to remove some of the cost of getting work ready.”

The job world is pretty tight, so now is the best time to focus on getting prepared for when the market improves, Lyn says.

“So check out our timetable and come along to mix with others who are on the same job journey as you.

“There’ll be some giveaways - and there will also be lots of opportunity to get confident and work ready.”
