Scaling new heights at Glovers Road

Site Manager Dan’s happy with progress.

We’re closer to getting six new homes for families.

Significant progress has been made on the construction of six 2-bedroom units on Glovers Road in Halswell.

The homes, which are ideal for families, are only 10 weeks away from completion.

Putting the roof on at Glovers Road.

Glovers Road is an exciting project for ŌCHT. The units are on track to achieve a Home Star 7 rating for heating, ventilation and insulation quality.

These homes’ design is Mahana (warmth) House. Site Manager Dan explained more about what that means.

“They will be warm houses to live in, staying at 16-18 degrees. Continuous ventilation means it stays hot inside and keeps all moisture out.” said Dan.

A few key details about the build:

  • Cross laminated timber has been used, which makes the building really solid. It’s constructed by stacking timber into perpendicular layers (think Lego).

  • The wall linings are high pressure laminate, an extremely durable panel. Using this material means Glovers Road hasn’t been affected by Gib delays – bonus!

  • The roof is a high insultation value roof, so tenants are going to be cool in summer and toasty in winter.

  • Built in joinery units have been fitted downstairs, to make the most of every bit of space.

Framing upstairs and down

Site Manager Dan summed the project up perfectly for us: “it doesn’t matter if it’s a social house or a $3 million house, we’re building to the same standard”.

As you’ll see from the photos, the houses are looking fantastic, very spacious and with the added bonus of incredible views.
